Whenever I spend time in LA, it becomes apparent what a huge monolith the whole enterprise is. It is huge & unwieldy, employing thousands of people, in all areas of production. You name the industry in LA & there will be some connection to entertainment. As technology has spread around the world, Hollywood continues to create and control a sizeable amount of production but it also becomes more of a symbol too. Films & television are created in many locations around the world now, including you & me, making our own posts through the internet. Posts on You Tube and the availability of so many things through streaming like Netflix, makes you and me not just a viewer, but often a creator & driver too.

In the times that I have spent in LA in an effort to steer the conversation on progressive aspects in entertainment, I usually just got to smell the industry but not really partake. But wherever you go in LA, there is a sense that the other person sitting near you in a café may be a director or writer or something… who knows?

My website has remained active for the past 18 years, not really getting a big bite of action, mainly because my goals were unclear. Whenever I mentioned my group to people especially when in LA, it just did not work for people. Are you a writer? A producer? What do you do?

NOTHING! And EVERYTHING! This is visionary. PGC was not created to make $ although if I figured a way to make an income as a consultant that would be great, but that was never my primary intention. My main goal has always been to lead the conversation amongst entertainment creators and get them realising or reminding them how important their work has the potential to be. This website is not here to advise anyone about anything in particular. More it is the essence of just getting people to see how important entertainment is and can be in all regards.

There has been much tragedy in the history of the world, many unkind actions by one group against another, and many of these things still happen today or the legacy continues today. There are many forms of abuse that have occurred too and some of this influences movie makers and viewers who seek dark content. Everyone has their own path to follow.

But so many films and other productions have acted to bring issues out in the open and to give hope where there was little, to honour so many great people and events.

The world moves forward. Individuals move forward moving out of eras where there was little freedom for many people. Racism, homophobia, prejudice of other kinds, starvation & poverty. When productions wake us up to these things and offer us a better path, when we get to laugh and love others, we know we are producing high quality. When we inspire others to go for it, when they had limited hope, we are doing good work.

This is the message of PGC: Keep moving forward in your work. You know deep down whether the work you do serves you and the world well or not. If it has limitations and is only to serve the making of money, then find something better.

And wherever you are in the world, start to see yourself as a creator of vision for yourself and others. There has never been a better time to create and share ideas around the world, where everyone wakes up and works as one. 

We are one world moving forward together, working for a future where everyone is cared for, where all children have education, where everyone has enough food and other basic needs taken care of, where there is inspiration for us all. This is what PGC was created for.

We are all drawn to different things for all kinds of reasons. What inspires me may be completely different for you, and that’s fine. But for me two films I want to honour here is ‘Missing’ and Madea, which is actually a group of movies. ‘Missing’ showed the US involvement in the coup in Chile where the CIA helped overthrow a democratic socialist government. Films like that give voice to the people. It makes the statement that a powerful nation has no right to impose its will on a smaller nation in the pursuit of making higher profits for its companies.

Madea shines a light. Her strength is a fusion of anger & humour & authority where she draws a line in the sand of what is ok and what not. Whenever I meet a white person from the US and discover they have not heard of Madea, I am gobsmacked! Madea for US President!

With the incidents at the 2016 Academy Awards regarding the low percentage of African Americans, the AA will be in damage control to show their inclusiveness. But the issue for AA and Hollywood in general will be that when so many on the planet are without, which is related to historical racism, slavery & prejudice, the industry will be skewed to certain groups. At some point the transition to genuinely international and inclusive of all people around the world will need addressing by Hollywood.

And also opening up systems of production options for all people around the world. And a clear focus and understanding about the role of entertainment to transform and inspire all peoples on the planet. These messages of PGC are not copyrighted! They are messages for us all to share and speak about as we move entertainment forward to be the greatest form that we ever imagined!
